Crested Butte Artumn Festival

Crested Butte is one of my favorite Autumn destinations for hiking, camping and ofcourse LEAF PEEPING! So I lined up an Art Festival to coincide with our annual autumn extravaganza. I applied and was accepted to the Artumn Festival in CB. Following the success at the Durango Autumn Art Festival, I was hoping for a great event. Unfortunately, this festival maybe 5% to 10% of the foot traffic of the Durango Event. Still I med wonderful art friends, connected with great folks enjoying the beautiful day in Crested Butte and I learned a lot, especially to research events I will be applying to in the future to ensure that I put my eggs in the right basket in 2024!

This painting is inspired by Colorado’s night skies. I love seeing the milky way above the mountains and taking inspiration for my artwork from the magical, starry displays.

The wood round is  made of natural, lightweight Paulownia wood. The circumfrance of the slice has natural wood bark. The edges and back are varnished in satin as well as the front of the painting. There is a hook on the back for hanging on the wall. Additionally there is a signed certificate on the back with details about the art. The painting is approximately 14″ in diameter on the longest side – each wood slice is unique in size and shape.

Local Maker's Fair in Pagosa Springs

Today I took part in a local holiday market here in Pagosa Springs. This was a fun opportunity to do a pop-up display of my medium and smaller paintings as well as giclee art prints of my paintings and vinyl art stickers with my imagery. My most popular items at this event were prints and stickers which are both still available in my Online Art Shop for the Holiday Season. Each sticker is 4.5″ in height. These thick vinyl, die cut stickers area  part of a limited sticker run for the 2023 Holiday Season. They depict Kasia and Kyle’s Mosaic Matryoshka Sculptures – Chipeta-Mai and Johona-Mai.  (more photos coming soon!)

Perfect for any surface – stick these on your water bottle, growler, car, bike, helmet, other gear, laptop, etc.

They are durable, dishwasher safe and weather resistant.

A UV laminate protects the stickers from the sun and scratches, keeping them from fading.

The stickers are of Kasia and Kyle's beloved dolls, Chipeta-Mai and Johona-Mai, seen above with their son Ethan. Photo taken 4+ years ago. The dolls were sculpted by Kyle and he mosaic motifs created by Kasia. Each doll is 100% handmade in Colorado. Both dolls have been exhibited throughout Colorado and have won various awards. They have been shown in Alamosa, Colorado Springs, Carbondale, Longmont and Manitou Springs. Today they are part of the permanent collection of art at Kasia and Kyle's Sculpture Park in Moca, CO.

Pre-Order for Holiday Giclee Prints Closes November 21, 2023

I've committed to Opening 'Print Pre-Orders' in my Online Art Shop about 2 times per year for the end of the year Holidays and to celebrate Spring/Summer. This is the only time that I open up orders for prints. The current Pre-Order Closes at Novermber 21st.

The square paper giclee prints are available in 12"x12" with a 1/2" border all around as well as a larger 16"x16" with a 1/2" border all around. Additionally, I have a few available as a 24"x24" framed canvas giclee prints. I will only have a couple extra of each print and plan to bring those to two more Holiday markets at the beginning of December and then mid December. The best way to ensure getting one, is to do the preorder which will ship by December 10th or earlier.

This painting is inspired by a vividly, bright pink  wintry sunset set against the golden autumn aspens and violet and pink Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I took particular inspiration from the Sangre de Cristo Mountains that line the Eastern edge of the San Luis Valley where the sunsets in the winter produce incredible colors and alpenglow effects throughout the landscape.

Alamosa Holiday Market at Milagros

Yesterday I had the best Holiday Market and would like to thank all the people of Alamosa who have come out to support this great event and that have stopped by to talk to me and who chose my art to take home as something special from the Holiday Market 💙🩵💙 My family has a special connection to the San Luis Valley, being that both our boys were born here in town and we also own a 40 acre property outside of town that we use for our own creative expressions and taking in the incredible views.

One of the many highlights as you can see in one of the photos is the Mayor buying one of my pieces 😁😁😁 Thank you Ty Colman! You added to the success of this awesome event! Thank you to @moonrecycles, @dancing.badger.bodyworks, @milagroscoffeehouse, @sweetgrasstherapeutics, and @visitalamosa for coming together to make this happen for all of us creatives!

As usual this was a family affair =) which was really perfect as the Holiday edition of the First Fridays in Alamosa offered wonderful entertainment for all, including the boys meeting Santa! We got to walk around seeing the new sculptures on Main Street, including my mosaic door "The Passage".

New Wood Slices In for the Winter Season!

 For the last few seasons, I've enjoyed creating a small series of wood slice paintings. It began in the Spring of 2023 and followed each season with a new shape and size. This time around I was excited to step out of the round and try some more angular shapes seen below. Each one is a magical world of mountain layers and night skies - my favorite subjects to explore in paint. Maker's Market in Del Norte was Amazing!

The Markers’ Market in Del Norte was great fun and success!  Below are a few moments captures on camera. One wonderful surprise was our dear friend Jeff coming by to shop some original art. You can see him with me and with his new night sky mountain art which perfectly reflects his love and involvement with night sky programs in the valley and his avid hiking lifestyle - thank you Jeff! 

You can also see my display, me goofing around with my talented friend Nikki Prizmajik By her display, another talented artist Jocelyn getting away with one of my prints and of course the convergence of the munchkins 💜💜💜 Thank You Del Norte, Marlena, Kaitlin and all the other participanting artists! That same weekend we did the Polar Express Train in Chama so those pics snuck in here for the added Holiday Spirit =)
